The festive season has arrived in full swing in Vancouver. Christmas jingles fill the air and shops are abuzz with shoppers looking for a special gift for a loved one or just hunting for a bargain
Insiderfilms has had another great year and would like to thank everyone we had the privilege to work with in 2011. We've established many new relationships, produced some great projects and had a lot of fun along the way.
To kick off the festive season here is your December joke, which I think we will all be able to relate to
Your December joke
A mainframe computer on which everyone in the office depended suddenly went down. They tried everything but it still wouldn't work. Finally they decided to call in a high-powered computer consultant. He arrived, looked at the computer, took out a small hammer and tapped it on the side. Instantly the computer leapt into life. Two days later the office manager received a bill from the consultant for $1000. Immediately he called the consultant and said, "One thousand dollars for fixing that computer? You were only here five minutes! I want the bill itemized!" The next day the new bill arrived. It read, "Tapping computer with hammer: one dollar. Knowing where to tap: 999 dollars."

Insider Films had the opportunity to work with the very talented Jackie Valentine, a local band from British Columbia, producing their new Music Video for "Never Gonna Break My Heart". I'm sure you will enjoy the music and laughs in this fun video filmed entirely in one shot!!
Well done to all those who submitted for the January MuchFact Grant deadline. We look forward to the award announcements in February.

As we near the end of "Movember" and look towards the festive season of spiced chai lattes and good cheer I wanted to share with you a bit of what Insider Films has been up to this month.
I read the other day that on average a child laughs 400 times a day, whilst an adult laughs on average only 4 times a day. In light of those statistics I have decided to add a jokes section to the start of our newsletter. For those of you who have experienced the world of video/film production I am sure you will enjoy a little chuckle with Novembers joke.
Your November joke
A producer, a director, and a DP (Camera Operator) are scouting locations. As they're wandering around, one of them spots a lamp. Naturally, they decide to rub it, and, just as naturally, a genie pops out.
The genie says, "Since there are three of you, I will grant you each one wish." The DP says, "I want to live on a beach in the south Pacific, where I can film the most gorgeous sunsets in the most beautiful settings for the rest of my life." The genie says, "Done," and POOF! The DP disappears.
The director says, "I want to make the biggest, most epic movie ever, with a limitless budget, a cast of thousands, and all the time I need to shoot it." The genie says, "Done," and POOF! The director disappears.
Then the producer glances at his watch and says, "I want them both back here in five minutes, we have a lot to get done today!"
MUSIC Saves III
Insider Films had the opportunity to be involved again this year with Music Saves for the 3rd year running. Music Saves III in conjunction with Shore 104.3 and VAMS – The Vancouver Adapted Music Society showcases an array of talented musicians and cast performing the Canadian Classic "Oh, What a Feeling" by Crowbar. I'm sure you will enjoy this wonderful piece set against the beautiful backdrop of Vancouver.

May 2011 Update: MuchFACT Deadline, Crazy 8’s Film Festival, Brock Zanrosso Video, Banff World Media Festival

Good morning!
Lots on the go for May.. so here we go:
MuchFACT is coming up on June 2! It's always better to have more time to work on your video treatment, so reach out in the next couple weeks if you want to get your video application in for June. More details here.
Two weeks ago the Insider Films/ODPN crew attended the Crazy 8's Film Festival. We found lots of great new talent and we're excited to bring some fresh Directors/Writers to our roster in the near future. We'll keep you posted.

We're full-spead ahead in development for our latest tv series pilot project.. which we can't name. (I know, lame.. but our Director Mike Margolis has big nasty lawyers)
This new pilot will be shot in Vancouver in May, and we're taking it to the Banff World Television Festival in June.

March 2011 Update: MuchFACT, Transmission Global Summit, New Videos, TV Shows

Good morning!
It's been way too long since our last update so he's a sample of what's up:
MuchFACT is coming up on April 14th! Get your last minute requests in this week. More details here.
Last month we attended Transmission Global Summit. More on that event on the Transmission website, but we really enjoyed the ideas exchange with a diverse mix of creative industries. We're likely to attend the next event in Beijing this Summer. Stay tuned for more details.

Hello hello,
I just wanted to share a couple of new videos with you that Insider Films has recently released...
The "Music Saves" Project - Part II
- Last year we put out a video called Music Saves with the help of a very strong Vancouver music community. The goal was to bring awareness to the Vancouver Adapted Music Society (VAMS). This year, we stepped it up a notch.
- Music Saves II is a live recording of numerous musicians (Jim Byrnes, Odds, John Mann, Dan Mangan, Dan Moxon, Kuba Oms, Adaline, Barney & Dustin Bentall, C.R. Avery and many more) each performing the same song at individual outdoor locations, and mixed together through the magic of film. Craig Northey (Odds) produced the song, I directed the video.

Tegan & Sara "Northshore" music video
- We never get tired of working with Tegan & Sara. Lets be honest, they rule. So does Insider Films director Angela Kendall. She directed this one and did a killer job. Enjoy!
